In between Oprah giving a motivational speech about her leadership academy in Africa for girls, I was in tears.
Here I was braless, hormonal and just months away from giving birth to identical twins.
Being a mum, does one of two things (well it did for me) … First, it made me so sleep deprived I nearly sliced my finger off while cutting an apple (so guaranteed sleep deprivation) and the other, makes you really pause about what you want from life.
I knew that having three kids under 2 would mean my love for travel and reporting had to take a back seat for now.
I had to reinvent myself. So, I took stock, then Oprah’s words hit me like a freight train.
How can your personality nourish your soul?
I knew my new identity as a mum, entrepreneur, writer and producer gave me the tools to feed my soul.
Why not write about my everyday life, and cover the lessons I’m learning each day? Why not continue to push myself and grow as a person?
I took myself to the local M.A.C makeup counter, bought myself some cosmetics to allow me to film tutorials without looking washed out, and got a nice shop assistant by the name of Ken to hand select camera equipment to film my adventures.
I made a pledge to myself that I’ll write about things that matter to me – and I hope to young millennials like yourself.
I’ll break down information I’ve learned and share my journey warts and all. I’ll film and write on social media about all the things I love – parenthood, business, the community, and life lessons.
Because this nourishes my soul and I hope it will yours.
