How Showpo's founder Jane Lu turned it all around

From crippling debt to social media powerhouse: How Showpo's founder turned it all around

As the daughter of Chinese immigrants, Jane Lu ticked all of the right boxes growing up: she was incredibly academic and moved into an accounting career at one of the top law firms in the country, and financial security seemed to be a sure bet.

Except there was one problem: Jane hated her job. So she left it all behind to pursue her entrepreneurial passion, but there have certainly been a few bumps along the way.  The first few months of her fashion company Showpo were even shrouded in secrecy.

Vivien Ong: A model life

Vivien Ong: A model life

In the world of modelling, Vivien Ong has reached the highest summit.

The Singaporean beauty has ‘Elle Italy cover girl' on her resume.

'It was my biggest job so far. It was a three-day shoot, 16 hours a day, everyday.'

For the Singaporean native, the job demanded someone with high energy, and she delivered in spades.

'I went on set and had so many espressos. When the magazine came out, I said to my friend, ‘Can you grab me the February issue I think I'm in it.’ She bought it and said, 'You're in it, you're on the cover!''

Born in Suzhou, China, Hao’s parents were part of the booming bridal business of their generation. She attended Temasek Polytechnic in Singapore, where she studied apparel design and merchandising.

“I was lucky enough to be growing up in a very creative, design-oriented environment. Designing with fabrics and creating art with my hands was always something that was natural to me since I was very young.”

Meet Shini Park

Shini Park: Why designer labels are flocking to 'Park & Cube'

For Shini Park, her blog ‘Park and Cube’ started simply as a hobby in 2008.

Fast forward to the present, this popular site has seen her collaborate with the likes of Kenzo and Chanel.

“I was always dabbling with the internet, building little websites since I was 16 years old. I wanted to share DIY tutorials, like how to make your own Alexander Wang bag.”

“After a few years, it evolved into photography journalism, and we somehow went into creating stories for brands.”
